Personal Colour Analysis

Personal colour analysis, also known as colour profiling or seasonal colour analysis, is a process used to determine the most flattering colours for you based on your natural features, such as skin tone, eye colour, and hair colour. The goal is to identify your "season" or colour palette, which includes a range of colours that enhance your overall appearance. 

The common seasons in personal colour analysis are Spring, Autumn, Summer and Winter. Each season is then further broken down into three different tones. Each season and tone corresponds to specific colour characteristics that complement your unique colouring. the analysis takes into account factors like undertones and contrasts to guide you in choosing clothing, makeup and accessories that enhance your natural beauty. 

Colour analysis gained popularity in the 1980s, pioneered by image consultants who utilized seasonal colour palettes to guide people in choosing colours that enhance their appearance. The concept originated from the work of colour theorist Johannes Itten and was further developed by colour and image consultant Carole Jackson, who introduced the idea of "Color Me Beautiful" in her influential book published in 1980. Since then, personal colour analysis has remained a prominent aspect of image consulting, helping people make informed choices about clothing and cosmetics based on their unique colouring. 

The evolution of personal colour analysis has seen significant changes over the years. Initially, the focus was on seasonal colour palettes and broad categorisations. 

In recent years, there has been a shift towards more personalized and inclusive approaches. The recognition of diverse beauty standards has influenced the evolution. Modern colour analysis strives to be inclusive of a wide range of skin tones and cultural preferences., acknowledging that one-size-fits-all seasonal categories may not capture the richness of individual characteristics.
